How to Increase CPC for a Blog?

What is CPC?

Cost Per Click (CPC) is the amount of money an advertiser pays search engines like Google and Yahoo and other Internet publishers or bloggers for a single click on its advertisement that brings one visitor to its website.
CPC or PPC (pay per click) model based ad networks are used extensively by web site publishers or bloggers to monetize their website or blog. CPC ad networks are considered to be one of the best ways to earn money from blog or website. Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing (formerly Overture) are popular CPC model based ad networks.
Advertisers generally bid on keywords, they choose the amount to be paid to the website owner whenever a user click on that keyword. This actually brings one potential customer to their website. The amount ranges from $.01 to several dollars per click. It comes extremely important for you to focus on high demand keywords. The analogy is simple-the higher the cost-per-click to the advertiser, the more you will receive per click from your blog or website.

How to increase CPC for a Blog or website?

There are two methods to increase CPC for your blog-

Target the High Paying Keywords-
You can search for the high paying keywords on websites like spyfuoverture or Google Adwords Keyword Tool. If you want more keyword ideas you can try the Search-based Keyword Tool that will generate ideas matched to your website.

Filter out the Low Paying Ads-
If you have incorporated Google Adsense in your Blog or website then you can block specific ads from appearing on your pages. The list of certain low paying AdSense ads is called‘Adsense Black List’. Sometimes there are situations in which you don’t want to display particular advertisements - for example, you may wish to block ads leading to competitors’ sites. The competitive ad filter works by blocking ads that link to specific URLs.
When you enter a top level domain such as www.myblog.com, all ads get blocked that link to subdirectories below that domain. For example, if you add- myblog.com in competitive filter, the filter will block ads to myblog.com, myblog.com/sub or forums.myblog.com. One thing to note here is that if you enter www.myblog.com instead myblog.com then the filter will block ads to www.myblog.com but not to forums.myblog.com or myblog.com myblog.com/sub will not block ads to myblog.com/products or myblog.com/sub/index.html
It is advisable to leave the ‘www’ off of URLs in your filter list to provide for broader filtering.
